Spoiler Alert! Catherine Carrigan: Original badass

It's a Zombie Apocalypse- AHHHH! Don't worry about it, Catherine Carrigan or "the cat" has got it under wraps. The good news about this story?  It has a stellar story line and I could see it as a movie like Sin City, a great video game like The Last Of Us Or even a show like Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Catherine isn't your typical rich, well manicured high school student, she's got a small arsenal of weapons hidden in her closet (an arsenal of makeup as well apparently) and she knows how to use them. So when she sees her neighbor suddenly being eaten alive she jumps into action.

Even though I liked the story there were a few questions that came to mind while reading.
  1. Why couldn't they stay in Catherine's mansion? It's explained  in the story that she thinks zombies could easily sneak up on them there but the place is loaded with weapons and probably everything they would need for three months! C'mon girl, there's probably plenty of surveillance cameras there. Board up some windows and bring out all of the weapons, game set.
  2. Is a bag filled with makeup and one change of clothes enough? Catherine seems like the high maintenance type and maybe it's just me but, if I were her, I would want some more hygiene products in my bag like deodorant, underwear, toothpaste etc.
  3.  How did she get a killer nickname like "the cat"? Has she saved the neighborhood from something else before or something I can understand people calling her Cat, seeing that it's short for Catherine but once you put  "The" in front of it, it automatically upgrades to superhero status. She had to do something to earn that, right?

So besides some minor inconsistencies and questions, I think this story has major potential! Come to think of it, is a story really a story if it doesn't make you think?

Favorite line: "It was like Silence of the Lambs in that house."

NOIRELLA: The Case of the Glass Slipper- Part 1

NARRATOR:   Rags to riches, told by folklore. The story you know will be no more. They told you of mistreatment, endless chores, unsavory stepfamily and all. So, we'll skip to the part where they're all at the Ball. "Hey boss, you having a good time?" Donnie shouted over the live bands' music. I shook my head, staring right at him as he said it to someone else's face. It was a masquerade party, all the guests wearing colorful Venetian masks made it hard to distinguish who was who in the dim lighting. Still, I'd told him at least a dozen times that I'd be in a green mask. The man he spoke to wore one in Gold. "I'm over here you fat-head," I lifted my mask showing my face. He marched over to me happily, "Hey boss, you having a-" "No, Donnie, and neither should you, you're supposed to be watching the door." "Yeah boss I was, but I had to hit the john, then figured I might as well grab some punch...

Cursed!

Her breathing grew heavier as she rushed down the corridor. The skirt of her very heavy dress clutched in each hand, raising it off the ground just enough for her not to trip during her brisk walk through the manor.  "I have to tell them," she thought, "I have to warn them all!"  Her long stride was like a gazelle as she set her eyes on whom she was looking for. "Mr. Cavanaugh!" She hissed as loudly as she could without yelling. An older balding man wearing a neat black suit and white gloves turned his head, as well as the three young chambermaids that surrounded him. "Mr. Cavanaugh!" she repeated breathlessly as she reached him. "What is it child," the man furrowed his brow grasping her hand. "Little miss, the curse has fallen upon her," she said between gasps. The chambermaids drew in a short breath, in shock.  "But she is passed the age of the others before her, I thought  maybe  this time..." The g...
